Christian Giel, born 1837 in Wiesbaden, died 1908 in Dresden, was tutor of the
children of Count Tolstoy and custodian of the Hermitage coin cabinet in St.
Petersburg.
He was one of the famous Russian Numismatist and without him not possible to
complete major work of Russian numismatic "Corpus Grand Duke Georgy Mihaylovich"
